Where do violins, violas and celli come from? The Kronberg Academy Festival and the Violin and Cello Masterclasses always afford visitors a glimpse into the fascinating world of instrument making.

Is it a craft or is it art? Violin making is the finest art of craftsmanship, admired for centuries and permanently veiled in an air of secrecy. After all, the sound of the instruments is what makes music. And if there is one thing that unites violinists, violists and cellists from all over the world in Kronberg it is their love of their instrument.

Since 1993 violin and bow makers have been coming to Kronberg Academy’s festivals and masterclasses to present string instruments and bows made in their workshops. It is extremely interesting – not just for musicians! The exhibition also provides an opportunity to browse through scores, CDs, books and the range of strings made by leading European manufacturers.
